Peripheral blood smear of a patient with accelerated CML who presents with a marked elevation of WBC count. All stages of myeloid maturation are present although there is a shift to the left. The WBC count is so elevated (> 500k/cm3) that the peripheral smear resembles a bone marrow aspirate.
