This is a Diff-Quik stained pleural fluid cytology specimen involved by anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). The large lymphoma cells have irregular nuclei with abundant cytoplasm and numerous cytoplasmic vacuoles. This patient also had lymph node and cutaneous involvement which showed the following immunophenotype: positive for CD3, CD4, and CD30; negative for CD5, CD7, and ALK.
